Stacie’s Mom has got it goin’ on
A casual conversation with my neighbor over two years ago started as a simple ask: “Can your brewery participate in the Ales for ALS program? They provide the hops you need, you design the beer recipe, and they only ask that your brewery donates $1 for every pint sold. All proceeds go to the leading ALS research facility, ALS TDI... and my brother and I love craft beer and our mom.”
Meet Stacie’s mom. She was so brave and so strong. She had been struggling for about a year—falling, weakness spreading, back surgery, physical therapy—when she was diagnosed with ALS. ALS is one hundred percent fatal; most people are given 2-5 years. We tried to make the most of what we knew would be an accelerated timeline, but we only got 11 months. We tried to laugh more than we cried; we tried to celebrate little things; we tried to have meaningful conversations as her ability to speak faded.
Now, meet Stacie’s Mom, born of a passion project, friendship and patience. I’m sure you’ll love it—this very first Ales for ALS craft beer from Renegade Brewing is a West Coast Rye IPA featuring a blend of Simcoe, Citra, Ekuanot, and Columbus hops. Ales for ALS selected this blend for its citrus and floral notes, which deliver berry, tropical, woody, and stone fruit character. Yum!
To honor Stacie’s mom, MY mom, I hope you’ll show up if you can, order a pint, and toast someone you love. Laugh while you drink it with friends, pull up a barstool for a stranger, and have some meaningful conversations.
