Birthday Wish
Friends! Somehow I have arrived at a milestone birthday – let’s say 50 plus shipping and handling – and I would love your help in celebrating in a special way. Earlier this year, I decided to re-enter the world and joined my first Ragnar Relay team to do a trail race. Having done nothing for several years, why not go all out and run straight up Mt Rainier, right? Well, there are several reasons for doing this, none of which includes “winning”. It is a way for me to regain some physical health and to participate with wonderful people in a new challenge for a great cause in honor of somebody I love and miss deeply. You see, this team is sponsored by ALS Therapy Development Institute (als.net), a non-profit biotech whose primary activity is to find and develop effective treatments to stop ALS, so this is a great way for me to honor Bob’s memory and raise funds for an important cause. Bob loved the mountains, his friends, and being active, so this seems to be a fitting way for me to memorialize him and do some good for others with ALS in the process.
I am asking for your support in this endeavor. In my mind, this is primarily a fundraising effort, with some running/hiking/crawling thrown in. Please consider donating whatever you can to help me help ALSTDI find a treatment or cure.
The mission of the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) is to develop effective therapeutics that stop ALS as soon as possible. Focused on meeting this urgent unmet medical need, ALS TDI executes a robust discovery program, as well as a multi-pronged approach to validate potential therapeutics; including small molecules, protein biologics, gene therapies and cell-based constructs. The Institute's unique, industrial-scale platform allows for the development and testing of dozens of potential therapeutics each year.
