Story

Welcome to Greg Moroney's and ALSTDI team page!

10/30/19:

With 5 days until the race, I thought I’d give everyone an update. Good news is that after being shut down with a massive infection in my right foot for a month, daily visits to the infectious disease unit at Greenwich Hospital for IV’s of anti-biotics and being in a walking boot for 2 weeks, I’ve been officially cleared to run the marathon on Sunday. While this was a huge setback in my training, I’m feeling well enough to go take a long jog around New York City this Sunday.

And while my finishing time is going to be a lot slower than I hoped a month ago, that was never the real goal. I’m so happy to announce that we just went over $20,000 personally and $130,000 as a team for ALS TDI. In speaking with the team there, they are thrilled so far. But can’t stop, won’t stop.

So please if you missed my first email or Facebook (or put it in the back of your mind to do later), the race is here! Please donate below. Every dollar gets us one step closer to life changing treatments for the people and families living with ALS and hopefully a clear cut CURE in the future. ALS is not an incurable disease. It is an underfunded one.

Thanks everyone for the support!

6/1/19:

Hi! My name is Greg Moroney and I am a friend of the Haberstroh Family. When their mother Patty was diagnosed in 2017 with ALS, the family set off on a mission. To ensure the donations reached the right hand, they teamed with the ALS Therapy Development Institute in Cambridge, Mass because the nonprofit biotech organization is focused 100% on ALS research. “ALS is not an incurable disease, it’s an underfunded one,” and with that they created the #ALSPepperChallenge to raise money for a cure. The challenge went viral and has raised over $640k to date. Check it out, many celebrities partook.

BUT we are not going to stop there, so I am also teaming with the ALS TDI to run the 2019 New York City Marathon!!!

Personally, this will be my first marathon ever so to do it on such a big stage is a tad daunting. I haven’t been consistently running since cross country in high school 20 years ago. With the unbelievable support of the ALS TDI team and the Haberstroh family, not only am I going to crush this race, but we are not going to stop raising funds until ALS TDI can get closer to a cure!

And please please please keep spreading the word, send along to anyone you know that might have been affected by this disease. Or any generous souls that want to support us for that matter. Forwarding to your friends that are also good people is just as important as the $$$ you are about to donate. Thank you. Thank you! Thank you!!
