Story
Welcome to the Team Trammell & Boatman page!
Adam & Andrew are on a mission to help end this horrible, non-discriminatory disease. Please take a minute or two to read our back story. Together, we can raise a lot more money for ALS Therapy Development Institute than we ever could alone! Let's End ALS! ***ALL DONATIONS GO 100% TO ALS TDI (a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization)***
Charlotte Motor Speedway - 2019
April 2019 - It was a very windy day in Concord, NC, wind gust reaching 50MPH, and rain had just cleared as we arrived to run the Roval at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the first time. It wasn't hard to spot the large Racing for ALS rig with some amazing cars and amazing guys. Adam has raced professionally his entire life but this was Andrew's first track event aside from various racing schools. For Adam's first time running the Roval, he laid down the fastest lap of the night by a 5 second margin. Not too shabby. Curious to get a closer look at what these Racing for ALS guys were up to, we decided to walk on over.
Adam at 18 Years Old
We met Dave & Scott while admiring their vehicles. To our surprise (after having the most awesome equipment and cars at the track), Dave & Scott were very welcoming, friendly, and it turned out we had a whole lot in common. They loved cars, they ran a second-generation family business and loved helping others. They helped us with a set of brand new ceramic spark plug wires when we burned through ours at the track (and WOULD NOT take our money). Helped us with numerous tools we did not have. Helped us with ensuring we installed some parts correctly by having their mechanic look at it. Helped us find some ramps to get our car on and off the trailer and countless other things. All of this, for no reason other than being who they are.
Dave's Race 2019
One thing we didn't have in common, the close relationship with ALS. We didn't know Dave had recently been diagnosed with ALS. We didn't know he may be racing for his own cure. And we've never known anyone personally with ALS. He never told us, just talked about cars and having fun!
Well come to find out, Dave was diagnosed with ALS back in 2017, and along with his brother Scott, they decided to start "Racing for ALS" to drive awareness and money to help End ALS. They'd always loved fast cars and were too busy like all of us with their careers and lives to take the time to chase that passion.
Once Dave was diagnosed this changed overnight! They got what we'd consider the best production track cars, took them to elite status after letting them go on vacation at Hennessey for some serious upgrades, and never looked back. They had bought a couple of Hennessey Z/28's and proceeded to hit the track.
Two years later they've raised over $60K for ALS TDI, enjoying time together and sharing a passion for fast cars! Coincidentally, Andrew & Adam enjoy helping others as well and we're excited to help, contribute and continue the battle to End ALS.

The 2019 Race was an unbelievable experience. The track workers at VIR said the event had the best vibe they've ever seen and the track reopened 19 years ago. Dave is an inspiration!
We'll be driving next year in Dave's Race at Virginia International Raceway and we'd be grateful for your support! No donation is too small!! And you never know, you may end up on our car :).
Here's last year's Raleigh news clip:

About ALS
Every 90 minutes, someone is diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease or Motor Neuron Disease (MND). It is a progressive, neurodegenerative disease that causes muscle weakness, difficulty breathing and swallowing, and paralysis while leaving the senses intact. ALS attacks certain cells in the brain and spinal cord needed to keep muscles moving. Most people survive two to five years after their diagnosis, with an estimated 30,000 people in the US and 450,000 worldwide living with the disease. Currently, there is no effective treatment nor cure.
