Shalynn is running the 10K at the Alamo in Roxanne's memory.
Roxanne Roundtree, our Roxy, was a beautiful light to the world. She was a beloved wife, mom, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, and nurse. She was a caregiver from day one, as the best big sister of four girls. She cared hard for us sisters and taught us so much!
She spent her young adult life as the best mother and wife caring for her three boys and husband. She spent the rest of her time caring for the elderly and sick as an amazing nurse. She once cared for a person with the very disease that she would soon have to battle, ALS.
Diagnosed at the young age of 29, Roxy entered the worst battle of her life. She quickly became immobile and spent the last 15 years of her life fighting from a wheelchair and hospital bed. Her will to live for her family was unbelievable, and she was the mother of her household communicating by just the blink of her eyes on a computer.
She fought the beast, ALS, for 15 years until her body would no longer allow her to, entering the gates of eternal life at 44 years old on April 15, 2023. The world needs a cure for this terrible disease! So many others have fought and are still fighting with no real answers why or how.
I choose to race for Roxy and for those who no longer can! Help me raise funds for ALS research and awareness for ALS; to end ALS!!
