September 4th would have been our brother Kevin’s 57th birthday. As you may know he passed away in May after a battle with ALS.
About 3 years prior, Kevin was diagnosed with ALS. We had limited exposure to this terrible illness and since then we have seen first hand how it impacts the person afflicted, family, friends and caregivers.
This is the first birthday that we will not be celebrating with him. Rather than being sad or remorseful, we are choosing to honor his birthday, and his life, by raising awareness and money for ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS-TDI). ALS-TDI is the world's largest drug discovery lab focused solely on ending ALS. All funds raised up to $10,000 will be matched by Kevin`s siblings.
ALS is a rare disease affecting 30,000 people in the U.S. and 450,000 people worldwide. The progression of the disease is damaging and the changes to those afflicted and their families are impactful and devastating. ALS is a vicious disease and there is currently limited treatment and no cure.
On behalf of the ALS community, we humbly ask for your support for ALS research. The progressive nature of this disease makes finding a cure an urgent priority for those living with ALS and their families; treatments and therapies are desperately needed. No one should suffer this horrible disease.
Your donation may help to one day eradicate this disease.
