ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) is a terrible disease that takes away one's ability to eat, move, speak, and even breathe. After diagnosis, patients live on average 2-5 years. ALS is ultimately a death sentence. Furthermore, existing evidence supports the conclusion that people who have served in the military are twice as likely to develop ALS than those with no history of military service. Due to this, ALS is recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs as a service related disease. This October, a team comprised mostly of military veterans and those who have been affected by ALS, will be participating in Ragnar for Research, raising money for the much needed research at the ALS Therapy Institute. Our Ragnar team captain, Teresa Thurtle, is currently participating in the precision medicine program at ALS TDI. The lab has some exciting potential treatments, but they need our help. Your donation or registration will ensure that the work continues, so that ALS patients can get the treatments they need. Together, we can end ALS!
