In 1981, when Art Van Saun was diagnosed with ALS the family was told there was no genetic link and therefore no possibility that the children could inherit the disease. We now know that 5-10% of the genes that cause ALS are familial and therefore can be passed on to children.
Since Art’s death in 1982, the Van Saun family has lost Art’s younger brother, Dave, in 2012 and Art’s daughter, June, in 2019.
Today the Van Saun family asks you to partner with them to raise money for research toward therapies and a cure for ALS. None of the money raised goes to the Van Saun family. All of the donations go directly to ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) toward research. Feel free to donate below or on one of the memorial pages.
Please check back with us often to learn about new activities and ways to join the fight!
