A few years back I lost an old high school pal to the monster that is ALS. When I saw him for the first time after years my heart was completely broken as it had taken every bit of life he once had. He was a Navy veteran, a great son, brother, and dog dad, a semi-decent football player, and friend. As a huge fundraiser and highly active ALS research champion he was always able to raise money at an epic level; competing with some of the most famous names in San Antonio, TX. We watched as they laid Justin to rest in 2015 and I'll never forget the damage that horrible disease did to his body, mind, and spirit. I'll also never forget him telling me "docs said beer doesn't hurt so let's have a Dos Equis!" I really wish I could have one more Dos with him. This horrible disease is one of the most under-funded, under-researched, and under-supported diseases and it steals every bit of life it affects, families included. I'd like to raise a few bucks and at least one glass for an old pal taken way too soon.
