Marguerite "Peggy" T. Lanza: June 18, 1933 - March 21, 1994

'Tis a rare treasure when you meet someone who accepts you for who you are; who welcomes you unconditionally and simply wants to be your friend.

Mom was a guiding light to our family.  We remember and treasure her life with this memorial site!  Her faith and love for humankind was a true witness of the goodness that God created!

Thoughts from Mom’s daughter Nancy:

As close to perfect as you can get, that is Peggy Lanza.  Peggy was born on June 18, 1933. Throughout her school years, Peggy did some singing and acting in college and then did Community Theatre later on.  Peggy met her future husband, our dad, Bob Lanza through school.  Definitely a beautiful couple. They went on to have 6 children, 5 boys and a girl.  At the time of her death from ALS, Peggy had 7 grandchildren. If she were still alive, she would have 17 grandchildren.   Some people are born to be teachers and that was our mom, Peggy.  She was a wonderful teacher who gave so much of herself to help kids who needed that extra help and guidance.  Peggy worked at a nursery school and when her children were older she worked as a remedial resource room teacher in the New Brunswick School System.  Everyone loved her so much.

Peggy had so many friends you couldn't keep track of them all.  She was loved by all and she loved spending time with her dear friends and chatting on the phone or doing lunch.  Every year a bunch of her friends would go away for the weekend to Cape May, NJ for a "girl's weekend".  They had such a good time.  Her husband, family and friends were the most important things to her.  Nothing else really mattered.

With all her children and grandchildren, there were always so many parties to plan, especially birthday parties.  Anything to get the family together was what she loved.

Mom started showing signs of the disease in June 1992 and was diagnosed in October 1992.  We have never seen someone face this devastating disease with such grace, dignity, humor and determination.  Peggy would not let this stop her.  She continued doing just about everything she could up until her death.  What a remarkable woman!

Mom died March 21, 1994 with her family around her.  You cannot put into words how much she is missed by all of us and not a day goes by that she is not thought of at least 100 times.  Life is not the same without her and it never will be.  We all have such wonderful memories of her and we share them with our own children.  They need to know what a special woman, mother, wife, and friend she was.

Peggy touched so many lives and brought such happiness to everyone she met.  She was a treasure.
