Story

Arthurs Hosts Beverages for Billy!

Our son, Arthur, is raising money for the ALS Therapy Development Institute in honor of a beloved friend - Billy Witte. Arthur plans to host a lemonade and iced tea stand ("Beverages for Billy") on 5/4 from 10 AM - 12 PM in front of 1334 Asbury in Evanston. Although Arthur has already expressed his intention to keep a glass of lemonade or two for himself, he plans to donate all proceeds to ALS TDI.

Arthur grew up with "Mr. Billy" who helped teach Arthur to walk, chased Arthur around, held Arthur's hand, and played endless games of "catch" with Arthur. When Billy was no longer able to run or walk, he would ask Arthur to show him his newest drawing or favorite toy; Arthur would delight in sharing these special items and in Billy's undivided attention. When Billy was no longer able to speak without assistance, he and Arthur would trade long lists of emojis via Zoom -- including many balloons Arthur declared were meant to celebrate "Mr. Billy Day!" Arthur speaks often about how much he misses Billy and has a lot of questions about why he wasn't able to get better. He hopes this fundraiser will help find treatments for others like Billy.
