Anyone who has ever met my father Elio has hugged him at least once. Active, intelligent, funny and loved by so many he was diagnosed with ALS in February 2003. As a true gentleman and "Mathemagician," he fought the rapid progression of the disease while at the same time maintaning serenity and humor for himself and those around him. Although he passed away in May of '05, my mother and I found within ourselves a new level of love and responsibility that we were not previously aware of. Through laughter and tears we continue to embrace Elio's spirit, his gentle and kind demeanor, as his radient energy embraces us. We hope that this fantastic foundation, its supporters and all those affected by ALS find support and strength in each other, and in the hard work that everyone puts forth every day in the effort to find a cure today for those affected.
